What a gorgeous fall day! We even got Chris B. to
show up in his red 1972 96 !
Leon O. brought his excellent 1980 900T, converted
to 16V and more gauges than I thought you could fit in anything short
of a rally car. If it's an automotive accessory, Leon's car probably has
it!
Kestutis P. graced us with his beautiful 2000 9^3
Viggen to set the performance bar. After some trouble finding out how
to read rpm on the dyno computer, he came up with a staggering 217 HP
and 257 lb/ft at the wheels. Go Trionic!
Robert M. I think ties Ryan E. for the cleanest engine
compartment of the day. Highlights of his 1998 900SET are an Optima orange
top battery, a modified air box, and a custom plaque with vital fluid
instructions!
Here we have the only 'Eye-Talion' Saab, my 1987
9000T! Modifications since the August run include 4 degrees more timing
advance, slightly lower fuel pressure, and a new throttle position switch.
I also adjusted the APC for approximately 2 psi less boost at any given
rpm. I'm quite happy with the results - almost identical power and torque
with less boost, and significantly more power and torque below 4000 rpm.
Peaks of 198 HP and 242 lb/ft of torque are more than enough!
Ryan E has made the engine bay of his 1987 base 900
so clean you could eat off it! He also has a slick looking gauge install
in the center console. I think he originally wasn't going to test his
car, but he gave in to the excitment and finally jumped on the dyno!
Kooch and his 1990 900ST were looking for some good
HP and torque improvements compared to August. Helping provide them were
a 9000 intercooler mounted in front, a new exhaust system, and numerous
tweaks to the timing, fuel, and boost systems. His results were indeed
much higher than the first Dyno Day, though I think he still wants more
power!
Steve Y. and his 1988 900 SPG made their first appearance
to an SCS event, here. He's got most of the performance goodies, including
a custom front mount intercooler, 3D mappable water injection, a hybrid
turbo, and an external wastegate. All together, they were able to put
him on top of the Viggen, at 238 HP and 270 lb/ft of torque! Not bad for
a 13 year old car.
Finally we come to Mark J. and the '$500' 1985 900
SPG. He was just trying to get some baseline measurements in more or less
stock form, before jumping into performance enhancements. Man I love that
front end!
