Here we see a few of the cars and people involved, the shop operator's very nice Porsche, and our attempt at a group photo after the runs. The black stealth 900T belongs to our resident videographer James, the only Saab not actually being tested. Thanks for the footage, James! Also shown is my own '87 9000T and Kooch's '90 900ST, both of which I somehow neglected to photograph on the dynamometer! Ah, our resident performance expert, Chris C! One of the oldest Saabs present, his '86 900 SPG managed to come in 2nd for HP and 3rd for torque, with 200 HP and 221 lb/ft. A sure crowd favorite is Gregg C's 99, sporting a 16V turbo engine with Mitsubishi turbocharger, a full roll cage, and custom seats. The only two cars running with minimal performance enhancements (exhaust) also happen to use Saabs excellent Trionic engine management system. Both cars are butter smooth in sound and power application right up to redline. Chris B's '95 900SET was right where he expected, while Luke's 'arrest me' red '95 9000 Aero managed to take the crown for highest HP and torque of the day, at 209 HP and 257 lb/ft! Rob W of Scanwest Autosport brought his gorgeous '91 900 convertible, the prettiest car present, I say. Of the non-Trionic cars, this one was the smoothest, and just where it should have been for HP and torque. Sean P, also of Scanwest Autosport, showed off his club rally car, much to everyone's enjoyment. With his performance exhaust, most people agreed that this was the loudest car on the dyno. For a non-turbo 8V, he pulled a respectable 110HP at the wheels. |
