Are there membership fees to join the club? Membership fees have not yet been established. We would like to keep the costs as low as possible though so anyone can afford to join. Where will the club meet? Another detail we are working on. We would like to find a place where we can hold regular meetings at a regular time. If you know of one, please let us know! I don't live in Seattle, can I still join? Of course! The club is open to everyone in the area that interested in meeting fellow SAAB enthusiasts. You don't even need to own one! As long as you're crazy about these cars, we want to meet you. What does Vägvinnaren and Gripmakten mean? Vägvinnaren is a Swedish word for "The Road Winner". Gripmakten is "The Griffin Power" appropriate for a SAAB don't you think? The logo was designed by member James Nakatsu and will eventually become an window sticker for SCS Members so we can identify each other on the road. Basic Swedish lesson: The "-en" suffix on the word Gripmakten means "the." In other words, in Swedish (or Norwegian or Danish for that matter), when you want to refer to a noun in a manner which, in English, would be preceded by "the", you add "-en" to the end (unless, of course, the noun is of neuter gender, and not a feminine or masculine, in which case you add "-et"). Another example. "Car" is "bil" in Swedish. To say "the car" you'd say "bilen". To say "a car", you'd say "en bil." One more: "Vägvinnaren" is a compound word. "Vag" means road. "Vinnar" means winner. The basic word is "Vägvinnar," or road winner. But because there is an "-en" on the end, we really have "the road winner" Thanks to "Hood" from TSN for the Swedish lesson!
